Summer Is Over” by Jon McLaughlin and Sara Bareilles
Absolutely magical. Anything featuring Sara Bareillas is never a let down. I’m a huge Jon McLaughlin fan, too. So this is perfect. Indulge, my friends.
” but summer is over - we were tangled in the morning sun - felt you getting colder and we knew that we would come undone - and it’s back to my town, back to your life - gray skies are blowing a kiss goodbye to the lovers - ‘cause summer is over “

“Someone Like You” Adele cover by Boyce Avenue
I literally woke up from a nap, and had this on my facebook timeline from a friend. I LOST IT. I am more than excited to see these guys in Nashville in March. Their original music is great, but I am in love with Alejandro from Boyce Avenue for his in-cred-i-ble covers of anything. I seriously go on their youtube page every other day to check for a new upload. Pitiful. Obsessive. Ridiculous. But they are amazing. My favorite song covered by one of my favorites. I’m having his children. I’m not ashamed.

Gavin DeGraw has released some genuine, magical music over the years. From “Chariot” to “I Don’t Wanna Be”, and “Stay” to “We Belong Together”. Recently released, his fourth album “Sweeter” is definitely topping my favorite of anything he’s released before. The first single from the album “Not Over You” is my second favorite, but the song I decided to post is one of my absolute favorites. I’m such a sucker recently for heartbreak songs, big time. Adele and Gavin have that in the bag.
“Cause we had a good time, then it was sorry. I call it stealing, you call it borrow. So I want my heart back if you’re not gonna keep it. If you’ve got no uses then I’m gonna need it. And someone else is gonna need it too.” // “So maybe we’ll call this a hard lesson learned. But you’re holding something that I’ll need returned. If you need some time, I’ve still got some to burn, but burning is just running thin..”
This is one of those songs I’d be listening to the car lifting holy hands and banging my fists on the steering wheel. I. Am. Absolutely. Addicted. I love music that fits my life perfectly. And this is just one of those songs when I heard it, I sat in the car in silence, and just said, “Wow.”
You should definitely look into this album, I promise you it’s worth your investment.

“When it all falls down.. the Only way is Up”….*falls to knees*
As I write this, my breathing pattern is beginning to slow.. & my heartbeat only pounds enough for me to remember that i’m alive. This song sends chills through every inch of my body- EVERY single time I press play. When James Morrison opens his mouth, I get completely numb and awestricken. Is this what love feels like? Seriously though, James does something to my soul that many male musicians can’t. These Brits, I Tell you! 2011 has been such an amazing year for British Artists.
Speaking of breakout Brits, Mr. Morrison’s shares this beautiful track with a young lady who’s had an impeccable year. Jessica Cornish ( Aka Jessie J) is one of the best voices in the world. Such control, such playful runs and a coy vibrato… She’s reintroduced real, powerful- fun singing to america. I’ve been a huge fan of her music this year, but this song is something so special for her.
The moment the words escape from Jessie’s lips, I melt into a petrified puddle of Love.
I watch your spirit break
As it shatters into a million pieces
Just like glass I see right through you
And your parade of excuses
Feels like groundhog day
You say the same things over and over
There’s that look in your eye
And I hear that crashing sound
As it all falls down& then just as the song builds, James & Jessie send their voices spiraling off into the silence to mingle blissfully into a heavenly mixture of YES MA’AM! At the 2:38 mark, Jessie accompanies James with a belt that meshes so beautifully against his. I Dieconstantly..This record is one of my favorite vocal performances by a duet this year. Absolutely astounding… & The video just makes it better. The tension. the dimly lit rooms. The smashing of pretty much everything. Purely Amazing. <3
For more amazing music from across the pond, Check out James’ incredible record “The Awakening” & Jessie J’s Debut album “Who you Are”—- Two of my favorites this year. -JDHII

I’ve recently been on this weird alternative-folky kick. Within the past year I’ve jumped on the Mumford & Sons bandwagon - I confess- and discovered a few neat artists along the way, my favorite from this genre being Needtobreathe (if you haven’t heard them- you’ll probably see me post something about them soon, check em out). Now these guys, Of Monsters and Men, with the recent release of their EP Into the Woods this past week on iTunes. The EP contained four songs, one of those being “Little Talks” which is first off, incredibly catchy, and secondly such a feel-good-celebrate-life kinda song. If Mumford & Sons and the Civil Wars conceived a baby, this is what it would sound like. Enjoy, give ‘em a chance ;)
‘There’s an old voice in my head
that’s holding me back
Well tell her that I miss our little talks.
Soon it will all be over, buried with our past
We used to play outside when we were young
and full of life and full of love.
Some days I feel like I’m wrong when I am right.
Your mind is playing tricks on you my dear.
Cause though the truth may vary
This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore’ - from ”Little Talks”
Nights like these are so weird. Something happens that puts me in the worst mood, and then I hope in bed and get a chat message from my dear friend Rigoberto in Honduras. He’s the preacher of the prison in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, where my good friend Joni is at. It’s unreal to hear that Joni is now one of the church administrators. I miss them so much. I miss it so much. My heart is honestly there. A piece with Joni and Rigoberto, a piece with Cynthia and Elmer and Lincy in Nuevo Oriental, a piece with the boy Emerson I met at the hospital, a piece with all the kids at Casa de Esperanza. It’s breaking my heart because I just want to be back there. These small trips aren’t cutting it, either. I honestly feel like after Physical Therapy school, I could raise some money and just go live down there. Find some support. Something. There’s such a great need for medical help and attention at one of the main hospitals, Hospital Escuela, in Tegucigalpa. It’s my calling. I don’t know how I’m going to get there, or when, or how. But God is setting my heart to it, and i’m setting my mind on it.
